GUIDED MEDITATIONS FOR SOUND HEALING

My Story

My Story

I’m Debi Kret, I’m a Master's level, Board- Certified Neurologic music therapist and the founder of Mind-Full Music Therapy Services and I have experienced that trauma cycle and I GET IT!

As a health care professional for more than 25 years, I have provided guided meditations as an integral part of my professional practice. And I’ve maintained a strong personal practice as well.

But about 10 years ago I had to face the ending of my 30-year marriage. I felt like I was losing everything! The stress was intense, and I had so much physical tension in my neck and shoulders that I could barely move my head. I had pounding headaches that seemed never-ending. My neck and chest were so tight that I had difficulty swallowing and I felt too nauseated to eat. And I was sleeping at most 2 or 3 hours a night.

I tried meditating. I knew how to do it. I was well trained! I put on the music, got into a comfortable position, and started to breathe … it worked for a few seconds, and then the negative messages bombarded me and mind returned to all the things I needed to do, all the stress of my messed-up life, the pain, hurt and betrayal…I was at a breaking point with no relief in sight.

Thankfully, I was at the grocery store and saw a good friend and mentor that I hadn’t seen in several years. I filled her in on my situation and she assured me that she had been right there where I was and invited me to come and work with her and her Tibetan bowls. I’d heard of singing bowls before and had likened them to “woo-woo crap”. But she was offering to serve me in a new way, and I couldn’t say no.

It was the light at the end of the tunnel! The mesmerizing sound and vibration of the bowls helped me to loosen the tension in my body so I could breathe. Her calm presence and guided imagery helped me to release all the negative messages and I was able to start to see the way back to stability.

It was so helpful that I started the process of collecting my set of singing bowls and did several years of training in sound healing practices that were easily incorporated into my music therapy practice.

Things were moving along nicely until Covid changed the world. By the summer of 2020, it seemed as if everyone around me was in crisis.

I wanted to serve, and needed to get back to work, I was unsure how to do so. As I worked with my singing bowls I remembered back to my early experiences and how it was not only the bowls but also my mentor’s calm voice and guided imagery that helped me find my way out of the dark.

The one thing that was missing during that time was for her to have made house calls at 2am when I was wide awake.

So I got to work and created Guided Meditations for Sound Healing. A four-part video series to guide you during the times when you need it the most.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are Singing Bowls?

Tibetan Bowls are large metal bowls that are either rubbed or struck with a heavy mallet to produce a resonant sound similar to a gong.

Is this some new type of therapy?

The use of Tibetan Singing Bowls as a healing art dates back over 2,500 years, and comes from the Himalayan regions of Tibet, India and Nepal.

They help to reduce anxiety and manage stress, reduce depression, lessening agitation, pain reduction, increasing energy, heightening awareness and promoting an overall sense of well-being.

What is Guided Meditation?

Debi plays the singing bowls while using her calm voice to guide you through breathing, relaxation and visualization practices to help keep your mind focused on positive thoughts.

How does this program work?

You’ll receive a series of 4 emails. One each week with a link to the new video. You can download them for use at your convenience.

What's included?

In addition to the 4 videos, there are audio only files, weekly affirmation posters, information about gemstones and essential oils. There are also short supplemental practices for those times when you really need a short break.

How much time does this take?

Each lesson is about 20-25 minutes and, just like learning anything new, you’ll get the best results the more you practice. But you should notice a difference even if you only do the lesson once weekly. Just try to make a habit of it over time and you’ll continue to make progress. I’ve added short practices that you can use as needed to support you in this journey. You’ll find them with the supplemental course materials.

I just don't have 25 minutes a day for this practice.

Try to do each full-length practice at least once weekly. The more you do this, the easier it will become. There are shorter practices included in the supplemental materials.

I don’t have a TV in my bedroom and want to do this as I fall asleep.

No problem! You really only need to hear the guidance and the singing bowls. There are also audio files included. The better your speakers the better your experience will be.

Can I watch this on my phone or tablet?

Yes! The files can be downloaded and played on any device but use external speakers for the best sound quality.

I don't like watching videos.

I created these as videos to provide options, but it's entirely up to you and I recommend that you turn the video off and just listen and let your mind create the images.
